WHY SHOULD I WEAR A HELMET WHEN RIDING A MOTORCYCLE?

This law is meant to help keep you safe because you risk suffering a head injury if you don't wear a helmet when you are on your motorcycle.

When you are on a motorcycle in California, you are required by law to wear a helmet. This is true regardless of your age. This law is meant to help keep you safe because you risk suffering a head injury if you don’t wear a helmet when you are on your motorcycle. One possible head injury that you can suffer is a concussion.

How might a concussion occur?

A concussion is a head injury that is the result of a hit to the head. A helmet can help to keep your head protected from an impact that can lead to a concussion. Interestingly, a helmet won’t necessarily protect you from all concussions. It is possible to suffer from a concussion if your upper body and head are shaken in a violent manner.

What are the symptoms associated with a concussion?

A concussion can lead to feelings of pressure in your head. It can also lead to a headache, confusion, vomiting, nausea, ringing in your ears, loss of consciousness, amnesia, fatigue, slurred speech and numerous other symptoms. These symptoms can occur right away, but it is possible that they won’t become evident until hours or days after the accident.

If you suffer from a hit to the head, you should make sure that you seek medical care. If you were involved in a motorcycle accident, you might need to seek immediate medical care and have follow-up appointments. The costs of medical care might skyrocket, especially if you suffered a head injury. You might decide to seek compensation to help you pay for those costs and others associated with the accident.
