Two pedestrians were hit by vehicles during the weekend of July 26, say reports. One of the pedestrian accidents involved a California Highway Patrol vehicle. Authorities have not released the name of either pedestrian accident victim.
The incident involving the CHP vehicle took place on Saturday, July 26. A man who is described as being in his mid-20s was struck by the patrol car as he was crossing a highway. Reports are that the man suffered critical injuries as a result of the incident.
The patrol vehicle allegedly carried two CHP officers, who reported that the pedestrian darted from the side of the road. The incident occurred around 1:50 a.m. According to reports, the officer attempted to avoid hitting the pedestrian by swerving left but collided with the man anyway.
An earlier accident, which occurred late Friday evening, involved a 74-year-old man. According to reports, the man was walking on the interstate at the time of the accident. Emergency calls were made by witnesses, reporting that the man was walking on the interstate. One caller reported the man was walking in the slow lane.
A Chevy Malibu hit the man as he was walking in the freeway. According to reports, first responders and CHP officers administered first aid at the scene, but the man died from his injuries.
When individuals are involved in pedestrian accidents, many questions may come up. First, people are likely to ask why a person would be walking in a dangerous area such as an interstate. Though some risk is taken by walking in such areas, if an accident or injuries occur due to the fault of a driver, then individuals may be able to file a compensation claim.
