There is no doubt about it. Dog owners throughout the state of California love their dogs. For many, the animal is more than just a pet it is a part of the family. While often, these animals are loving toward humans, as we all know, at times they can become aggressive and possibly bite people around it. Historically some dogs are better known for these behaviors than others, such as pit bulls and Rottweillers.

When dogs do bite people the result can be devastating and even result in death. Those who survive are often left in serious pain as they heal and may seek monetary damages from the animal’s owner in a personal injury lawsuit. In many of these situations

Recently, one of the insurance companies that insures property owners in California announced its intention to stop covering dog bites when the dog in question is one of three types. In addition to pit bulls and Rottweillers, Farmers Group, Inc., will no longer cover bites inflicted by dogs that are wolf hybrids. This decision was reportedly based on statistics the insurer had accumulated throughout the years. According to the insurance company, those breeds account for more than a quarter of all these types of incidents.

Individuals paying attention many have seen this coming. The number of dog bite incidents has increased significantly throughout the course of the past decade, up a total of 50 percent since 2003. In 2011, insurance companies, including Farmers, made payments of $480 million to victims of dog attacks. Not everyone agrees with this change. What are your thoughts on the matter?
