On behalf of Rooney Law Firm posted in Trucking Accidents.
Most drivers in the Chico area would be hard-pressed to go a day without seeing a truck on the roads. While individuals throughout the nation undoubtedly rely upon these vehicles to transport a wide variety of products, as is the case with any motor vehicle on the road, it is possible that it could be involved in a truck accident.
There are many safety precautions that truck drivers must take to try to ensure the deliveries made are incident free. One of those is rules imposed upon drivers regarding how much time they can spend on the road. On the off hours it is expected that drivers get the proper amount of rest. Even when this occurs however it is possible that a driver will still feel drowsy. As it turns out, as is the case with individuals in a variety of positions, they may want to turn to caffeine for a pick-me-up.
Recently researchers in Australia conducted a study into the impact of caffeine on truck accidents. The results of the study found that there was a 63 percent less chance that a truck accident would occur when the vehicle’s driver was consuming caffeine. The study was conducted by the George Institute for Global Health in Sydney.
Researchers were quick to point out that while showing a positive result, caffeine is not a substitute for getting the proper amount of rest.
It would seem to make sense that the findings of the study would apply to drivers of any type of vehicle, not just trucks. To reduce one’s risk of being involved in a crash, all drivers travelling long distances might want to consider bringing a caffeinated beverage with them.
